What ravages of spirit conjured this temptuous rage

***
But there are groceries to buy and she knows she’ll have to go home

***
She don't want nobody near but you can't get away from that they appear and disappear and they all get a string attached

***
If you've never stared off into the distance then your life is a shame and though I'll never forget your face sometimes I can't remember my name

lots of. work in progress

I woke up with this huge strange sense of God where is the MORE in my life.

Jesus I am thirsty

Won't You come and fill me

Earthly things have left me dry

Only You can satisfy

All I want is more of You

Mhmmm how great is our spiritual capacity to be filled. Also. This whole supernaturally natural thing… Haha like I said, I am becoming more and more convinced there can’t be anything as a messy Christian, so.

I am still feminist!!! Hahaha.

11am classes are the best thing ever!!!!

moments teeming off into the distance

Something that affected me v.v.v. much (inagoodway) – sticks in my head – “to pick up daily things that will take my relationship with God beyond my uni years.” It really IS about the eternal perspective: what am I doing to make God so much a part of my life and identity that He and Him alone will sustain my walk?

As E pointed out after we shared ricepaperrolls (yum) for dinner, the sunsets from the Leceister street balcony are really very beautiful. Well okay, I don’t think I actually see the sun going down, but the sky is remnantly drenchdraped in living gold and a pinkish orange shade no words can describe. It becomes fiery, and at the end, a rather dirty pale lemon topped by grey. Night sets in and I scrimmage around for a lightbulb that works to screw into my table lamp.

All creation groans for renewal but there are moments I think God must smile at us: you, you, you, you and yes you (and me) through the clouds. Such a Delirious-kind/sounding moment.

Thebestfriend of mine lefted today. WITHOUT GIVING ME A HUG!!!!! But it's okay, I know it's her lousy fierce dao-look defencemechanism, ha ha. OHWELL I WILL SEE YOU IN THAT ISLAND AND THEN WE ARE GOING TO EAT FRIEDSNAKE IN VIETNAM!!!!! Heeheehee. Permanentresidency in my heart.  MP called me and asked if I was okay, hahaha. Wahlau I ONLY CRY COS OF GOD!!! Haha.

Thank you GWA (:

I also like having E as a housemate cos she is v.v.v. funny –

‘Do you have any trashy magazines?’

‘Er… no…’ (Thinking: it’s a principle I don’t buy! Although, doesn’t mean I don’t read other people’s. Like MP’s rather disturbingly fascinating fan of Cosmo issues…!)

‘I need to s—t. I need trashy magazines man.’

HELLO MISS C.  Iheartyou too (:

Feed Your Soul

People often ask me if I have a life verse.

If I do, it is Jeremiah 15:16, “Your words were found and I ate them, and your words became for me a joy and the delight of my heart.” It’s kind of my testimony. I was going nowhere in a hurry and I found this book God wrote and began to feast on it like a soldier devouring his last meal. When the Word of God is absent from my life my heart is hungry. When I feast on the Bread of Life, my heart overflows with joy.

I experience that reality of Scripture’s power on a weekly basis. Every weekend at our church, I see the truth penetrate people’s hearts, grip their minds, move their emotions, and, best of all, engage their wills toward permanent change. Not only is God’s Word the tool of our conversion, it is also the tool of our transformation. It confronts us and convicts us about our true need.

I can personally testify to the power of God’s truth when I’ve invited it to penetrate my heart, driving indifference and complacency from my soul. Long before I proclaim God’s Word in our church service, I sit alone in my study with His Word and invite God to change me, to grip me with the reality that He is speaking. I ask Him to fill my heart with faith as I focus on His words and to accomplish His purpose in me as Isaiah 55:10 promises. A long time ago I heard someone say, “you can’t teach what you don’t know and you can’t lead where you don’t go.” God is faithful to His Word and we who place ourselves in the flow of that unceasing work are the continual benefactors.

You want that kind of joy for yourself, don’t you? Here are three ways you can feed your soul on God’s Word:

READ IT: So that you don’t miss the power of what you are reading, savor God’s Word like you would your favorite dessert-take a bite or two, then put your spoon down. Don’t rush. If you read it for twelve minutes each day, or one and a half hours per week, you could finish reading the Bible in a year, and you will be so incredibly blessed you will want to start all over again the next year.

As for where to start, begin in the gospel of John. Read it slowly and every time you see the word believe, underline it and ask yourself: Believe what? Be interactive like this with every book of the Bible. Pray before you begin reading each time. Ask the Lord to open your mind and heart to His truth and then believe that He will.

QUESTION IT: Here are some prompts I use; over time, you can develop your own. What portion of my reading stands out to me? Why? • Is there an example for me to follow? • Is there an error for me to avoid? • Is there a duty for me to perform? • Is there any promise for me to claim? • Is there a sin for me to confess?

PLAN IT: Keep your commitment to God’s Word going by making a plan how you can apply what you’re learning. Take notes; when the Spirit convicts you of a sin, have a strategy to deal with it. The results will amaze you.

I have never in my life picked up the Word of God with the phone unplugged and the door shut and given it my focus and my faith in a diligent way when it hasn’t fed me with a new spiritual vitality.

So if you’re feeling a little spiritually famished today, I know what’s going on. You need to get back into the Word of God. In its pages, God has provided all that is sufficient for godly living:

  • When you read God’s Word it will bring you joy. (Jeremiah 15:16)
  • When you study God’s Word, it will keep you from shame. (2 Timothy 2:15)
  • When you memorize God’s Word, it will purify your heart. (Psalm 119:11)
  • When you quote God’s Word, it will defeat your enemies. (Ephesians 6:10, 17)
  • When you meditate on God’s Word, it will bring you success. (Joshua 1:8)
  • When you abide in God’s Word, it will give you confidence. (John 15:7)

Ask God to renew your appetite for the book He wrote. It will take discipline to get into a daily pattern, but pure delight will keep you there. Ask yourself, “Is God’s Word a priority in my life?” Even though I’m extremely committed to the Bible, I always have to come back to that question and never let anything crowd the priority of Scripture out in my life. I need to read it, I need to study it, I need to memorize it, I need to meditate upon it. It’s not enough to just talk about it at church. If you’re struggling or worried or don’t know how to get victory over some temptation, get back into God’s Word. It’s food for your soul and the tool by which God will accomplish His work in you.

thinking.

Priorities need to be translated into practicalities.  Otherwise, they are mere aspirations that can even become disobedience, or give rise to a sense of falling and condemnation.

One simple truth - knowing that I'm Your desire

You are His.   (1 Cor 6:19)

That He wanted you – that He saw you a living breathing laughing crying sensing being made in His image, with an eternal soul.

He saw a good thing.

Here I am

Knowing I'm a sinful man

Covered by the blood of the Lamb

And now

I've found

The Greatest Love of All

Is Mine

focus

Joy comes from seeing the complete fulfillment of the specific purpose for which I was created and born again, not from successfully doing something of my own choosing.

the pursuit of happyness

God provides in funny ways.  I’ll always be grateful for HT because he’s like my little brother, ha ha!  BKT dinner was good.  I think I felt sad but blessed that I could say: Comm is the bestthing that has happened in my OCF life, and there was semisortof surprise around.  You know in some stupid way it’s almost like you have this lofty sentiment that – I would lay down my life for the Comm (haha laughatme)…  Just because I feel like I see so much and so many different aspects of God’s character from each person’s life.

Of course, as the indomitable Nan from L.M. Alcott’s Jo’s Boys (only true devotees of Little Women would have wept over the whole series) once remarked: ‘Boys [people] always say they’ll die for you.  It’s the living and working that is much harder.’

Then again, it’s early yet, ha ha.  But yeah…  I AM getting ready to leave OCF.  Perspective is important because it dictates what we hold onto and what we see as priorities (thetradeoffeffect)

‘Happiness or sadness or wealth should not keep anyone from doing God’s work.  Those in frequent contact with the things of the world should make good use of them without becoming attached to them, for this world and all it contains will pass away.”

1 Corinthians 7:30 – 31 (NLT)

ThePursuitofHappyness:  it was good but not as good as I thought it would be?  I guess it takes a certain kind of movie to really touch me: to make me think and probe.

WillSmith is a fantastic actor – especially at the last bit when he (SPOILER ALERT!!!!) makes it…  The whole glazed over eyes, almost imperceptibly trembling clenched jaw…

Being a wordphile I would have made something of the fact it was happyness with a y (‘the place that they don’t spell happiness right’) and not an I (‘there’s an I in happiness) – I was waiting for some pithy saying along the lines of (wh)y do we run after happiness so much, or the ‘why’ is at the centre of the pursuit of happiness because often… it’s like you’re running after this idea that you’re not even sure will make you fulfilled at the end of it…. Kinda like…  reaching to holdup the sky for the sake of it?

Maybe ‘I’ is central to the pursuit of happyness – is it entirely a selfish affair?

…I don’t quite believe in happy…  I believe in contentment and joy.

Luke 18 Persistence.

not airyfairy (:

So I run straight to the goal with purpose in every step. I am not like a boxer who misses his punches. I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should.

Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.
